Hellenic Technical Enterprises Ltd is a Cyprus-based company established in 1975, originally as Hitachi-Hellenic Ltd - a joint venture between the Hellenic Mining Company of Cyprus and Hitachi of Japan for the manufacture of Crossbar Telephone Exchanges and other telecommunication equipment. The Company's products were mainly supplied to the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CY.T.A.) and in smaller quantities, to the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization of Greece (O.T.E.)

In 1985, following an agreement between the founders, Hitachi withdrew from the company and Hitachi-Hellenic Ltd became a fully owned subsidiary of the Hellenic Mining Group and was subsequently renamed Hellenic Technical Enterprises Ltd.

After the withdrawal of Hitachi from the company all assembly/manufacturing activities were terminated and the Telecommunication Department was established with the purpose of importing and distributing telecommunication products. In 1996 it became the official distributor of Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICN). Today the department supplies, installs and maintains a full range of Siemens telephone systems, including systems based on the latest IP technology (VoIP).

In 1987 Hellenic Technical Enterprises Ltd expanded its activities by establishing the Computer Division. Initially the Company was the official distributor of Nixdorf computers in Cyprus and in 1991 partnered with Sun Microsystems Inc. In the following years, the Company evolved into one of the major suppliers of UNIX based systems and implemented some of the largest computerization projects in Cyprus.

The formation of the Industrial Division in 1992 was made in an effort to diversify the Company's activities by offering specialized support and maintenance services to the Petroleum Industry. The Industrial Division has shown remarkable growth. It is currently the island's major supplier of fuel delivery and storage products and services to the oil companies of Cyprus.

The company actively participates in tenders for the supply of technology related products/systems to Government, semi-Government and private Enterprises. It has collaboration agreements with a large number of Global companies from the USΑ, Europe and Asia.
